It is important that we ensure each child has positive development during these important years. Screening and assessment is the way for us to accomplish this goal. Child screening and assessment provides teachers with information that helps evaluate a child’s development, skills, knowledge and behaviors. Teachers begin assessing children upon their first day of enrollment. A child’s first screening will occur within sixty days after enrollment. Young children are changing at an incredible rate, therefor, three additional assessments are conducted per year.
